1 - We need to act to bring Existing Housing up to Parity

Parity between our homes and our environment.
Parity between our lifestyles and our environment.
Achieving a parity of understanding across industry to drive change.
What we achieve is at parity with what we intended to achieve.

By this we mean that we want to help make every home as good as it can be.  We have a huge range of housing types and quality in this country - the bulk of which are hard and costly to heat and run. For the benefit of the occupiers, energy conservation and CO2 emission reduction, we work to help bring houses up to a higher standard to achieve many benefits.

2 - We are Accurate and Independent

Every home is different, and measures that are suitable and cost effective for one home may not be appropriate for another. It can therefore be difficult to make choices between the range  of available options. Our approach is to model the various options for a particular situation with maximum possible accuracy to inform a decision.

We are not linked to any suppliers or manufacturers, and make use of 'typical' products and product characteristics in our modelling. We are independent and choose a wide range of measures for evaluation. In projects we independently select the most appropriate people and products for a property.

3 - We don't tell you what to do, we provide the information you need to make your own decisions

The energy use of a home is quite a complex system. Rather than make recommendations based on 'experience' or conjecture, in our monitoring and modelling work our approach is to calculate or measure  costs and benefits as appropriate, and allow the figures to speak for themselves. We do make recommendations, but when we do so we ensure that reference is made to the underlying analysis and our recommendation criteria. This makes it clear how and why our recommendation has been made.
