Ashden Awards 2012: Winner – Energy Efficiency Advice

Ashden Award LogoThis prestigious award was awarded to Parity Project in recognition of the full breadth of its services, but with particular reference to our advice for households and property professionals. After receiving the award our MD, Russell Smith commented, “It’s wonderful to receive this award after years of hard work not only trying to build a successful company, but also help to create an industry. WInning today gives me faith that the values we hold – of independence, rigour and working in partnership – are shared by others, and recognised as important. With the Green Deal just around the corner, these are exciting times for the company, and this will help us make sure that we’re well placed to ride the wave.”

Retro Expo Awards 2012: Winner – Excellence in Retrofit Training

Retro Expo Award LogoParity Projects won the award for the Understanding Sustainable Refurbishment course, developed with EAL. The judges commented “[We] were impressed with the deep technical content of the course and felt it could potentially have a big impact on retrofit delivery… This is a ground-breaking course that is well designed to meet the retrofit challenge, and it has been franchised for maximum impact across the industry.”

Sustainable Housing Awards 2011: Winner – Various

Sustainable Housing Awards LogoWe won three awards at the Sustainable Housing Awards in 2011, and were nomitated in a further three. These included:

  • Energy Saving Initiative of the Year: Retrofit South East Project, Borough Grove, Hampshire. Delivered in partnership with Radian, Camco, and Global Environmental Social Business.
  • Sustainable Smaller Housing Retrofit Project of the Year: One Planet House, Sutton. Delivered in partnership with BioRegional, Sutton Council, and Sutton Housing Partnership.
  • Sustainability Innovation Award: WHISCERS System (Whole House In Situ Carbon and Energy Reduction Solution). Delivered in partnership with The Sustainable Energy Academy, United House, and Camden Council.

We were also nominated in the Sustainable Housing Finance, Low energy Social Housing Project, and Sustainable Larger Housing Retrofit Project categories.

Observer Ethical Awards 2008: WInner – DIY Retrofit Category

Observer Awards LogoRussell Smith, Parity’s MD, won the DIY category at the Observer Ethical Awards 2008 for Parity Projects’ first Demonstration House at Sutton, Surrey. Using our own Masterplan assessment tool to inform the retrofit, we achieveda 75% reduction in CO2 emissions. The judges said of the project: “Russell and his company Parity Projects stood out from all the other nominations for their new way of engaging with the public, giving them the tools to reduce their house’s carbon footprint in an innovative and inspiring way.”

Sustainable City Awards: Runner-up – Sustainable Buildings

This award recognised best practice in the early days of retrofit, and was given in recognition of Russell’s work on the demonstration house at Sutton.

The Sustainability Awards 2007: Winner – Award for Sustainable Refurbishment

Sustainability Awards LogoThe Sustainable Refurbishment Award was given to Russell to reward the comprehensive approach taken in delivering our demonstration house in Sutton. The house incorporated eight different types of insulation, solar thermal roof panels, energy efficient appliances, rainwater harvesting and recycled and locally sourced materials. The project also included installation of a thermocouple monitoring system for each room, offering insights into performance that we still use to this day.
