With the second round of funding recently confirmed, Parity Projects is pleased to announce that it has been chosen as a key delivery partner for a number of the successful Low Carbon Assessment Fund projects. The projects represent a broad scope and scale, and span a wide geographical range, with partner organisations including:
In line with the funding brief, the projects are all broadly aimed at helping the organisations, and the communities they represent, to prepare for the Green Deal. As such they include activities covering our full range of services, from our award-winning Home Energy Masterplans and Stock Assessments, to accredited training courses in “sustainable refurbishment”  and expert consultancy. We’re confident that these services can all play a significant role in helping the partners understand the retrofit potential in their community, build local capacity, and raise awareness about home energy efficiency.

We look forward to working with all of the partners over what will be a very busy few weeks up to the end of March. We will try to make sure we keep our website and blog up-to-date with the latest news from the projects and any interesting conclusions we can draw about the practical implications of the Green Deal, which is due to start in Autumn of this year.

Parity Projects is working with Radian housing group and  Camco as part of Retrofit South East  - an ERDF and SEEDA funded project, focused on the low carbon upgrading of 14 of Radian's homes. The properties are being upgraded using a combination of initiatives such as external solid wall insulation, loft insulation, new efficient gas boilers & controls, MVHR and solar PV. Four of the properties will have extra initiatives such as solar thermal, rainwater harvesting and additional PV.

As part of the project, Parity has developed the first recognised and accredited eco-refurbishment courses and have been delivering them free across the South East region using SEEDA funding.

The UK's first nationally recognised eco-refurbishment training courses, developed by Parity Projects, have been awarded recognition by the Homes and Commnunities Agency (HCA) under their place-making recognition scheme. The scheme, which was launched in 2009, identifies and promotes "quality products that improve skills and knowledge within the housing, regeneration and community sector".

Parity's training suite of eight modules is the first of its kind in the UK to be accredited to BTEC Level 3. They have been designed with tradespeople and professionals in the domestic building sector in mind and aim to build a common language between the trades, as well as to develop a "whole house retrofit" approach - something which is lacking in the current market. The HCA recognition award is a fantastic move forward in upskilling the workforce, ready for mass retrofit.
